LEARN MORE: TURPS LIVE SURGERIES
Turps Live Surgeries are group crits for up to 6 painters led by 2 Turps mentors. The allocated venue will be open from 10.30am for participants to bring in and hang their work. The crits will begin promptly at 11am and are expected to finish no later than 5pm, with a 30 minute break. Each surgery will be led by 2 mentors from the Turps Surgery mentoring team. Please see list below of mentors.
As a guide, we ask that you bring around 3–5 works to focus on. You can also bring any sketchbooks, drawings, or works via a computer/device if you want to supplement the discussion around your work. There is WiFi available in the gallery. You do not have to provide anything ahead of the session. Upcoming dates will be announced below, via our Instagram account, and our mailing list.
Turps Surgeries are a fantastic opportunity for any painter to come to Turps Art School to take part in an intense, critical and encouraging live group crit. It helps painters to rethink what they’re making and how they’re making it, as well as giving them the chance to talk candidly, openly and critically about their work and the work of others. And it’s a good way for painters to connect with each other over the course of the session, especially those who may feel isolated working alone in their own studios.
